Stand-up, Saturdays @ 4:00p (2026-3)

Whether you've always dreamed of making people laugh or you're just looking to build confidence and storytelling skills, this course will give you the tools and stage time to discover your comedic voice. No experience necessary—just bring your sense of humor and willingness to try something new! This course is designed to take you from nervousness to confidence, teaching you the fundamentals of stand-up comedy through hands-on practice, supportive feedback, and lots of laughs. You'll learn how to write jokes, develop your stage presence, and perform in front of a live audience. Class culminates in a showcase.

And for returning students, class is designed to be repeated by anyone looking for additional reps, feedback, or accountability. Take it with a new teacher and get a fresh perspective on your tight five. Returning students should email the training center (trainingcenter@thirdcoastcomedyclub.com) for a discount code!

• All classes are 2 hours long and last 8 weeks.
• Students receive free admission to most improv shows at the theater all session long.
• Missing more than two classes may impact whether you may perform in the showcase
• Third Coast is a safe, creative, and collaborative environment; any behavior to the contrary will be dealt with immediately.

Q: Do I need to be funny to take this class?

A: No! Humor can be learned and developed. If you have observations about life, you have comedy material.

Q: What if I'm terrified of public speaking?

A: Perfect! That's what we're here for. We build up gradually in a supportive environment. Most professional comedians started out terrified.

Q: Can I use profanity in my material?

A: We'll discuss this! Profanity can be effective, but we'll focus on writing jokes that work with or without it.

Q: What if my jokes aren't funny?

A: That's part of the process! We'll work together to find what works and fix what doesn't. Every comedian has jokes that bomb—it's how you learn.

Q: Will I have to perform in front of strangers?

A: Not until the final showcase (which is optional for inviting guests). In class, you'll only perform for your supportive classmates.
