Game of the Scene, Fridays @ 6:30p (2026-3)

Ready to stop guessing what your scene is about and start playing long form with confidence?

This class builds on Third Coast’s fundamentals by introducing the “Game of the Scene” approach — a practical method for identifying the comedic engine of a scene and heightening it with clarity and purpose.

You’ll practice spotting the first unusual thing, aligning quickly with your partner, and turning it into a clear, repeatable pattern you can escalate. Instead of wandering through plot, you’ll learn how to build focused, dynamic scenes around a strong playable idea — leading to cleaner edits, sharper second beats, and performances that feel intentional rather than accidental.

Rick Dacey Bio:

Rick Dacey is an actor and improviser with over 20 years of experience. He trained to be a “very serious actor” in the conservatory program at the Atlantic Acting School in NYC. One night, after a particularly heady deep dive into Hamlet’s internal life-and-death struggles, he saw the Upright Citizens Brigade perform and had his mind blown. Rick promptly turned his back on his old pals Shakespeare, Ibsen, and Chekhov and devoured every class he could at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, getting on stage whenever possible. After moving to Los Angeles, his improv class and performance habit only got worse, eventually taking over his life and forcing him to assemble more long-form indie teams than any sane person could reasonably remember. Somehow, this has all led to roles in film, on stage, and in national commercials for brands including Bacardi, Disney, and Home Depot.

• All classes are 3 hours long and the course runs for 4 weeks.
• Students receive free admission to most improv shows at the theater all session long.
• Third Coast is a safe, creative, and collaborative environment; any behavior to the contrary will be dealt with immediately.
• Tuition is non-refundable. All sales are final.
